Food and Wine Dinner - Avondale Wine Farm

Friday, 30 January

After the indulgence of the festive season, and those New Year’s resolutions to eat lighter and healthier, we start our food and wine calendar for the year with a delectable vegetarian menu, paired with Avondale’s naturally-made, organically certified slow wines. Located at the foot of the Klein Drakenstein Mountains, Avondale wines are hand-crafted and of premium quality, just like Executive Chef Christo Pretorius’ gourmet menu for the evening where the freshest seasonal produce will be the star ingredients, courtesy of Mother Nature herself.

Art-Tea by the Sea

Wednesday, 4 February

Join a guided tour of the hotel’s art collection, followed by a scrumptious High Tea served in the Leopard Bar. Our spectacular location was the inspiration for many of the art works on display, including the mountain scenes that have been painted many times in the nineteenth and twentieth century - most famously by the Dutch/South African painter Tinus De Jongh and his son Gabriel De Jongh. Many of their oils of these mountain views can be seen in the reception rooms of the hotel, as well as works by other prominent South African artists depicting historical events of the Cape, the landscape and flowers.

Friday, 27 February

Executive Chef Christo Pretorius and Jean Daneel Wines will take diners on a gastronomic adventure. A delectable four-course dinner will be served, paired with wines from the family owned boutique winery in Napier, including its’ award-winning wooded Chenin Blanc. Executive Chef Christo Pretorius will craft a gourmet menu that will be perfectly matched to these lauded Overberg wines to provide diners with a gastronomic, summer dining experience presented in the award-winning Azure Restaurant.
